October rewards overview, available for sign-ups during the entire month!
If you, too, would like to get started as an artist, if there are things I can teach you, or if you are simply interested in my work, you might wanna consider supporting me on Patreon, where you can get your hands on exclusive guides, art lessons and tutorials, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at my current projects. I am currently focusing on two types of rewards: the creative ones with artwork, and the instructional ones with guides and lessons.
More news are now available to my Patreon supporters! I recently started uploading more regularly to my Patreon newsfeed. I used to send all rewards and updates on new projects at the beginning of the month, but as some of my supporters ask me of news from time to time, I started uploading more work in progress, projects and illustration previews. Current Patreon supporters have immediate access to it as well as a notification to their mailbox – if you wish to discover the news as well, the feed unlocks for every new supporter!
For those who are more interested in creative perks, let’s start with some manga content! As you know, I have recently resumed working on IllusFairy, and to change from traditional artwork, here’s a digital piece for once. You will thus receive “Frau Holle”s chapter cover illustration in HD version, along with the real time video and the PSD file to analyze the different layers. If you wish to give it a try, there will also be a folder with the line art and the used screentones!
While talking about IllusFairy, a dedicated sketchbook will be available this entire month. I have also worked on some designs I can use in the next tales – mostly princess dresses, servants clothes, random background character designs. A student asked me a while ago if I had some references for medieval fantasy clothing, so since I was in the mood, I’ve thought of those below. You are very welcome to use them as inspirations for your own work (though keep it private use only please).
And to go over to classical illustrations – as always, a monthly artwork is available for in-depth studying – you’ll have “Fruits du Verger” with a commented guide and the material references in the exact order as they have been used for each step, as well as a real time video. You can see it as an explanation on how I work on illustrations, or as a guide to help you with your colorations using Copic Markers.
ArtClass – Copic Colouring – Hair
And speaking of colorations using Copic markers – to fit my students’ needs as they asked more questions regarding colouring and blending as of late, this month’s art lesson answers most questions while giving advice and presenting 4 different colouring techniques, both with and without blender. The focus is on hair – the same model has been used four times to illustrate the difference between those techniques.
During workshops or with online students, it often happens that the blender is seen as a “magical tool” which creates beautiful gradations – nevertheless, a wrong use results in the opposite. Here, you’ll learn when to use the blender according to your needs, as well as how to create shadings without it.
In this art lesson, you will get:
– real time & voice-over video presenting the four techniques
– HD scan of those four illustrations with colour references
– line art to print out and colour yourself
If you want to give it a try, feel free to save the image below and print it out to test some colourings yourself : )
Concerning the English Artclass version, after giving it a long thought, I will put it on hold for a while. It is not definite, but it costs me both money to pay a native translator, and time to rework the original version – both being very precious, as I have to admit. Seeing as my students are all French-speaking from Luxembourg, Belgium and France, removing the English version won’t have any major influence for now.
EDIT: I just found a new translator! This month’s ArtClass is thus still in French only, but we’re working on the translation, as well as on the previous lesson which was French only as well. Please be patient, as the English versions will resume soon.
All tutorials and art lessons are also available in my online shop.
You may purchase them directly there if you wish to give it a first try without subscribing to Patreon.
